V12V screeching issue
Discussion
Hello there
My V12V has a very annoying screeching coming from the front of the car. It isn't road speed related, and seems sort of engine speed 'connected'. Operating the clutch and manoeuvring the round seems to start or stop the noise - but not always. I've managed to catch a video of it - see below.
Does anyone have any ideas on the cause - clutch release, aux belt.. other?
Any info appreciated!
Cheers,
Sam

The noise is present from the start of the video, then goes away at 10s as I go in to reverse gear. I go back to neutral. I then go in to reverse again at 19s, rev slightly and you hear the noise with the revs and then it goes away. I rev gently at 24s and the it makes the noise with the revs again. I start moving back slowly with revs at 27s and the noise stays until the end of the video. It doesn't seem to perfectly align with being in neutral or in gear, or being on or off the clutch pedal, but using the clutch does seem to somehow modulate the noise - but to clarify it will also make the noise from engine start.

It could be the Aircon pump which has it's own clutch that can screech when it fails (happened to my previous 2009 4.7). Try turning the A/C off and if the sound doesn't happen then it's probably that. The pump is low down at the front of the engine on the right as you look into the bonnet - well it is on a V8 anyway.
Thanks all. I will have a poke around a see. I was thinking maybe clutch release bearing - but sceptical of that given it comes and goes. If it's making the noise and I bring the clutch up to the bite point in gear, it often stops the noise as load goes through the engine. So maybe belt related?
It's a strange one but driving me increasingly mad!
