After a bit of help....

How do I check whether someone has previously been involved in the purchase of house partly in their name, and whether they would qualify as an FTB?

I am an FTB, and am looking to buy jointly with someone who may or may not have been on the deeds of a house previously and bought with their parents. For one reason or another nobody can bloody remember wat they did years ago.

Trying to find out for the purposes of mortgage type/stamp duty/ISAs etc

I can't see a "name" search on the Land Registry site? Or is there another way?

I'm not sure I'd want to buy a house with some one who doesn't remember ever owning one.

Or if she’s feeling brave, call HMRC with her NI number and they can run a check. Of course, not having adequate records for at least 6 years after the transaction is naughty in itself and can carry a penalty.
