Old payslips

Clearing stuff out, and I've found a pile of old payslips (and expenses receipts) from a company I worked for until late 2014/early 2015, and will never work for again! Any reason I need to keep these now?

It's on the cusp. Generally you should keep 6 years back but it's wise to add a year or two to that.

If you had a company pension with them it's proof that you worked there and will have your payroll number on. Something to consider.

Thanks everyone. Security clearance very unlikely, and pensions are sorted, but noted timescales etc I've stuck them (back) in a drawer for now.

When they are 10 years old, the rules will have changed and you will need them for 15 years, back in the drawer they will go. You will never be free of them

I had similar but forPAYE . I worked for a company which folded. 5 years down the line HMRC were chasing me for unpaid income tax.

Sent them copies of my wage slips showing that the deductions had been made at source, and they turned their attention to the director of the company at the time and left me alone.

A colleague didn't have his wage slips and had a complete nightmare trying to prove it had been deducted, went on for ages.

Just scan or take a photo of them then file away.

Yes that's probably the best approach, the P60s were in the same format as payslips so they're in the pile somewhere.

Scan them then print them off.

Throw the originals away.

Problem solved.

I still have every payslip I ever got. Started working in 1978. Not sure I will ever need them.

Every March payslip & P60 kept for prosperity.

No very good at getting shot of stuff I don't need, just not pay slips and pension statements. Well probably anything financial paperwork, never look at it though, just fills up the filling cabinet.
