Hope the collective experience may be able to advise on the following.

My parents own some commercial and residential properties as joint tenants.

As my father has recently passed away, we need to transfer his share to my mother.

From this website, it appears the steps required are to complete and submit the following Land Registry forms:

AP1: Application to change the register

TP1: Transfer of part of registered title(s)

DJP: Application to remove from the register the name of a deceased joint proprietor

Is this correct?

Further research has suggested, even though completing these forms may appear straightforward, it would be best to employ a solicitor to do this.

How much could I expect to pay per transfer?

A couple of the properties are leasehold so wondered if that would have an impact on any of the above.

TIA.

I can't remember exactly what I did when my father died but sure it was only one form.

So probably the DJP form, along with his death certificate and copy of his will.

Their flat they owned was a leasehold property. It was done fairly quickly from memory.

Getting the lease name changed was a whole-nother ball ache, dragged on for a couple of years due to the utter incompetence of Clarion Housing Association.

Hope the lease isn't with them !!

ETA - didn't employ anybody, just did it myself.

If they are definitely owned as joint tenants then DJP and a death cert is required, the Will won't be necessary as the property will pass by survivorship to the surviving joint tenant.
