I got a letter this morning from the DVLA reminding me that if I use my car it's an offence as it's currently SORN'ed.
Perhaps I'm overreacting a bit but I know it's SORN'ed. I only did it 4 months ago at the start of lockdown. It's also uninsured and parked on private ground.
Seems a bit cheeky when I'm adhering to the rules they are basically saying they don't believe me. There are thousands of uninsured and untaxed cars running around on the road, what do they do about them?

I got the email saying you might want to think about getting an MOT for the car, avoid the rush after the 6 months extension ends, ignoring the fact it was MOT'd 5 weeks before and was on their system...
I emailed them back, got another reminder to MOT my car, then two weeks later got another to say ignore the email...

Apparently its because lots of people SORN'd vehicles during the lockdown (because quite reasonably they weren't using them) and then had subsequently forgotten to re-tax them when they started to use them again so it's a letter sent because you SORN'd it at that time in case you'd forgotten.
Obviously they cannot distinguish between the "I've SORN'd it because I won't use it for for foreseeable" and "I've SORN'd it but I'll re-tax it again when lockdown ends".
