According to DVLA website so long as I don't drive for a week I do not have to do anything regarding my licence.
Does the same apply to the insurance. Do I have to tell them?

Agreed. That is how I understood it, so long as it does not affect your licence there is no need to inform them.

I was in the same boat as you a few years back.

NHS had me down as some frail 90 year old after my heart attack. I was a fit 46 year old.

Licence taken off me. I had to go private to get a doc to write to DVLA and get it back.

Now a reasonably fit 58 year old.

Myocardial Infarction is not notifiable to DVLA or car insurance.

Wait until you need travel insurance... frown

BTW - to save the grief of constant repeat prescriptions, sign up to someone like pharmacy2u and let them sort it and post it to you. Far easier than a trip to the surgery every 8 weeks to put your prescription request in the box.

And get a yearly prepaid certificate. Has been £104 a year for a decade or more.

Has saved me a small fortune.

I would query some of the advice given on here re notifying DVLA and insurance company.
Whilst the DVLA do not require notification of a heart attack, you are obliged to report the incident to your insurance company.
Quoting from the BHF booklet 'heart matters' ;
Whatever sort of driving licence you have, you may also need to tell your motor insurance company about your surgery.
To not do so may invalidate your insurance at a later date.
After all they are looking for any excuse to refuse any subsequent claim.
I understand that they should not impose any penalty if they are informed at the time.
I am also surprised that you were well enough to resume driving a week after a heart attack.

Told my insurance company (Tesco at the time) who insisted I inform DVLA about my heart attack. Just got a letter back (fairly quickly) acknowledging the letter I had sent and recognising I was OK to drive.

It was my Surgeon who said I should notify my insurance company.
