Daily Driver/Winter Car for £8-10K

After having sold my daily driver a few months back, I think it's time to get another one as things get back to normal. I am likely to jump on to a good lease deal when they appear (seems pretty dry at the moment) so looking to get a stop gap for the winter months and potentially keep it as a utility/tow car after.

Key requirements are:

1. Mainly used for commute 30 miles semi-urban about 3 days a week
2. Needs to be a nice place to be in with some luxuries (cruise control, heated seats, decent infotainment, etc.)
3. Overall use will be about 8000 miles a year
4. Will be used as a utility vehicle for trips to the tip, towing (about 1200 kgs) and the odd camping trip
5. Doesn't have to be 4x4 but would be preferable in winter
6. Needs to have some decent poke (0-60 < 10 secs)
7. Mileage < 75K and Age < 8 years
8. Budget around £8k but can stretch to £10k for a good vehicle

The X1 23d which seem to tick a number of boxes. Also, the Infiniti EX which has been recommended here in some other threads but there don't seem to be many close to where I am.

My old man has a 64 plate X1 2.0d auto with a tow bar (Ifor Williams trailer) and it's not a bad wee thing. Good in the snow too on Cross Climates.

Pushing the age limit but what about a Skoda Superb estate 4x4

If you can live with 10 years then this EX comes in under budget but has all the toys you could want for as long as you're getting some dual carriageway/A road time in then the diesel will be fine & they're ULEZ compliant too:

Shame there are two for sale in the country but too far as i am in Yorkshire. There is a high mileage FX30 for sale near me - any thoughts on that?

Just to close this thread, ended up getting a 17 plate Octavia Estate 4x4 which seems just the vehicle for the next few months!

Good stuff. I had a 2016 Octavia Scout for 3 years and it was a great workhorse and family wagon.

I just bought an Octavia Scout 4x4 Estate. 2012, 60k miles for £6k.

Just bought some winter steel wheels and winter tyres for it in preparation. (£500 off ebay).

It is a good workhorse, albeit a bit on the slow side. Got it booked in for a remap in a couple of weeks to try and get a little more oomph.

Coming from a SAAB 9-3, I'm not finding it very comfortable on long journeys though.

That's a good deal as the Scouts always seem to go for more. I wanted something newer and similar Scouts were out of my budget.

Can't compare with the Saab but I have done about 250 motorway miles today and think it's pretty good. It's missing cruise control which is a £250 retrofit I will be plonking some money for.

Yes, it was well priced (from a dealer too). Ex Police car though, which probably has something to do with it possibly. Great condition though.
