Anyone got any work lunch ideas?

Im in a small office building, most days its just me and I have access to a small kitchen, with a fridge, toaster, sink and microwave.

I'm spending a fortune at the sandwich van, which is nice but not healthy nor cheap

Happy to cook in bulk at weekends

Beans on toast, couscous & tuna seem to be favorites but I'm getting bored of them

I normally cycle home or to work so ideally need protein and carbs.

Cheers!

my work meals usually consist of

piri piri pork steaks with new potatos or savory rice with veg
minted lamb steaks with the above
chicken breast (flavoured) with above or i have sweet potato and veg

or depending on what i batch cook or have left over from dinner , it can be

curry
spag bol
chilli - i also do a vegetable chilli too which i actually prefer

Decent Ramen noodles used to be my go to lunch. Served with broccoli and some type of pre-cooked fish or meat. Goes well with a boiled egg too.

Cheers all, great ideas so far

Not so keen on sandwiches, ham on its own would be a plain nightmare

I like cooking, but its difficult finding the time with young kids

I do love leftovers and try to batch cook when I can

Six eggs, scrambled. You can do it in the microwave. Top with grated cheese, or something more exotic.

agreed mate , do you WFH at all ? I do a lot of my batch cooking in the day now or when little one has gone bed, doesnt really take too long.
Spag bol/chilli etc is 20 mins prep then just leave the thing to simmer away for however long.

mash/veg - 10/15 mins to boil

once you get in a routine of doing it, it doesnt take too much time i think.

Jacket Potato (cheese/beans chilli curry etc etc). McCains do frozen ones cooked in an oven so the skin is crispy. Fine to take to work and then microwave.

Precook some sausage and buy a portion of that ready made mash (not Smash, but proper mash, heats up fine in microwave)

Cook a couple of chicken thighs and have them with rice.

As said, batch cook chillis/currys and can reheat from frozen with rice.

This is nice with some pre cooked pasta too, makes a change and with a bit of hot sauce, it is v v tasty! https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/chille...

Buy a cheap toasty maker and have toasties too.

Expecting a "council" comment or two but if for whatever reason you end up a day short with the batch cooking would something like https://www.iceland.co.uk/p/iceland-luxury-boeuf-b... make for a reasonable standby?

Of course other (higher end / better brand) ready meals are available but for change out of £3 got to be worth a go?

Salad for me, had it for years.

So I have around 30-40g of packet salad leaves, usually Sainsburys or Aldi, I add 4-5 cherry tomatoes chopped in half, a third of a red/yellow/orange pepper chopped up, some chopped spring or red onion onion and either around 80g of home cooked chicken breast/thigh in whatever flavouring I fancy with 30g of light mayo or half a chopped mozzarella ball with balsamic glaze squirted over the salad with a bit of ground pepper, basil leaves and a few chopped sundried tomatoes.

With fruit as a dessert!

Check out a recipe for baked eggs, preferably Portuguese baked eggs, fix it at home and take it in.
Reheat with microwave at work.

I cycle to and from work each day, and have Huel delivered to the office so I don't have to cart food in as well as clothes and a laptop.

It's not very inspiring, but it stops me picking and has helped me lose weight, without losing bike speed.
