Anyone recommend an easy/cheap way to digitise some VHS videos using a Mac?

Assume I need a USB video capture device and some simple software. Anyone recommend one they have used recently?

Running Catalina 10.15 and have an old VCR to use.

Can't help recomending a USB device but if you have one of the old Sony Handycams they can pass video through to firewire (check the model though as not all of them can). I've converted several tapes using this method.

Software wise I used iMovie.

I used to do the same, but none of my more recent Macs have Firewire ports.

A few years back I bought a little gizmo called an iGrabber for this purpose.

Quality was pretty average, but it did do the job we needed.

A quick Google suggests this is no longer available but threw up this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Grabber-Capture-Convert-D...

Not used this one but the Amazon page also includes the usual links to similar products, but it looks like something like this would do the job you want!
