I have two sentimental watches that are low end of the market

One a Henry Watch (chronograph) which has stopped and the other a 1950’s Rotary

Would a high street repairers like Timpsons be ok to take these for repair?
I assume they will just replace the mechanism?

The 1950s Rotary may just need a service, which is a strip down, clean, oil and reassemble job. I would expect a 50s Rotary to have a Swiss movement. Might cost £60 or so.

If the Dan Henry is a Japanese quartz chronograph they will probably just replace the movement. If you have good eyes and a delicate touch, you may be able to do this yourself. I don't think I would risk it for a sentimental watch, but I don't have the patience for that sort of work anyway.

You could try looking here for a BHI accredited repairer and I believe there are a couple of repairers on the forum also.
