Well, I picked this up today, 2008 X5 with two owners and 79k miles.

It has many options, most of which I’m not sure how to use, so would love some advice:
- Pan roof, which works perfectly. Is there anything I can do to help look after this? Does it need servicing?
- A separate remote heating key, how does this work?
- Rear DVD screen, which the kids love, however the screen is a bit flat looking, can it be upgraded?
- 7 seats, seem straight forward and will definitely come in handy!
- Front headlights look a bit misty, are there any fixes for this?
- Colour coded wheel arches, which look great, but are covered in stone chips. Are any of the clear stone guards better than others? I will get it painted first, then apply some protection.
- Not sure what the stereo is, as there is no obvious branding, but it sounds brilliant!
- External lighting by the door handles, nice touch.
- TV, can’t figure out how to make this work. Will hit YouTube tomorrow. Same with connecting my wife’s mobile - can’t figure this out either.. Can’t find a code...?!
- Front and rear heated seats. Kids will love them in the winter!
- Previous owner has just fitted Bridgestone runflats all round, so I’ll see how I get on with them!

Overall, we are absolutely chuffed. Honestly, it feels like a new car. So solid and well built.

Looks good, congrats. thumbup What colour is the interior?

Petrol or diesel?

I've been looking at E70s for a while. Am after the 3.0 petrol but that variant seems very uncommon. Mostly diesels out there but my wife doesn't really do the miles to justify those.

Thanks, absolutely love it!
The interior is grey, which wasn’t my first choice, but with the pan roof the whole thing feels very bright and airy, and the interior is literally unmarked, so I’m really happy.

Deep Thought

Lovely looking car! beer

I loved my 2007 X5 when i had it. It was the 3.0d variant but it responded very well to a tuning box. Made a big difference!

Mine was a 7 seater SE with the Dynamic pack, so got the 20s and the wider wheel arches etc.

RE: the headlights. Do you mean the outer lens is a little cloudly? If so then one of the headlight restoration kits will make a big difference.

I used the 3M one on my MG ZT

Nice colour. The E70 was the best looking X5 by far to date. The current one looks ridiculous.

And the bad bits

Rear arches

Rear boot, lower door has been catching on the lower section, causing rust. The chrome trim is also out of shape from a knock. I think our E53 X5 had the same issue. Can I just instruct a good body shop to strip and paint? I’m not that fussed on the chrome trim, can this be left off?
