HELP The engine cuts in full acceleration then starts again
Discussion
Good morning all,
i really need help!
Since 2019, I have a problem with my V12 AMR. When I accelerate strongly with the tank half empty, the engine cuts and starts again suddenly. It's so violent that my head almost hits the steering wheel! The more empty the reservoir, the faster the problem arises.
Let me explain: the cut is made each time, but at the beginning than in 1st, then in 2nd when the tank is a little more empty, then in 3rd when the tank is even more empty, then in 4th when I am on the reserve. It does so at each violent acceleration, but the more the tank empties, the more violent the cut. Looks like gasoline is no longer getting into the engine.
Aston Martin changed the fuel pump to me in April 2019. After the change, the car was fine again, then the problem returned in September 2019. Aston Martin changed the complete fuel tank (including the pump and hoses) . The car was fine again, then in May 2020 the problem returned ...
What is interesting is that the problem comes at the beginning when the gas tank is low (at quarter) and the more it goes, the earlier the problem occurs (at half).
This problem never occurs with a full tank and there is no fault code when Aston Martin analyzes the car.
Help me please !
thank you so much

Don’t worry, it’s not unusual. Not that it’s acceptable but your not only one. Happened(ens!) to me, exact same symptoms. Usually when car is over 1/2 full. Few people on here have commented it’s something to do with the tank breather where it perishes. To be fair it rarely happens to me now but then I’ve had my car for 7 years now.
But wasn´t this old problem rectified a long time ago by repositioning the fuel tank (or whatever) in the manufacturing process so that on such a late car as an AMR it should never occur resp. there must be another reason for it? I haven´t experienced this on my 17MY (yet), but then I never drive it

I have a similar problem on rare occasions, it’s like when accelerating and going for it it bumps on the rev limiter although I’m not on the limiter.
When I back off the problem disappears.
It happens on very rare occasions but very annoying when it happens.
I told the dealer several times but he can’t find the cause as of course when going for a test drive it is perfectly fine.

Thank you all for your responses.
For me, this problem happens with every vigorous acceleration.
But as soon as the garage changes the gas pump or the fuel tank, everything is fine, then the problem occurs, earlier and earlier. So it's a worsening problem and that's what I don't understand.

I have the reverse problem. When I am coming to a stop light, I like to coast and come to a stop by switching to neutral by pulling both paddles in my paddle shifters. My car stalls 33% of the time when I do this. Have checked hose based on the link below and the hose is fine. So I never switch to neutral anymore. This stalling issue also seems to be related to the amount of fuel left.

Sounds like fuel starvation to me with the lower fuel quantity washing back in the tank, starving the pick-up of fuel. If doing anything connected with the tank or pumps changes the symptoms, even if only for a while, I think you can rule out an electrical problem elsewhere in the car.
With the fault connected directly to fuel level, poor pump connections can also be ruled out. the tank, filters and pumps need to come out to make sure the pick-up is located properly, probably at the rear of the tank.

You say it’s so violent your head nearly hits the steering wheel. I can’t see how that can just be the engine loosing power/fuel starvation as that wouldn’t cause violent deceleration. This would point to the brakes being applied which would point to a malfunction or design fault with the Dynamic Stability Control. I have a similar problem with my 06 V8V. I’ve recently put Michelin PS4S tyres on and since then it has only happened once. I’m convinced it’s a software bug with the DSC.
