BiTDI throttle lag
Discussion
I test drove a 2014 A7 BiTDI recently, I love the looks of the car and the interior but when driving there seemed to be quite a bit of lag between the accelerator pedal input and anything actually happening.
Is this something that can be mapped out or adjusted another way? It’s enough to keep me buying BMWs...

I have the same engine in an A6 allroad. I’ve done over 60k miles in it and the car has now done 102k miles. The throttle response / acceleration is definitely better from idle in sport mode when exiting a roundabout, if you find responsiveness an issue.
On the move, no issue whatsoever with my car and responsiveness. A light press of the throttle when moving allows pretty rapid progress to be made.

I found that the small movements you usually make to adjust the throttle in corners etc didn’t seem to have much of an effect, then a bigger movement would unleash the thing!
It was also hesitant going from closed to open throttle.
Maybe it just needed a reset or something, after a bit of research the pedal box seems to be a popular option though.
My BMW 420d (not a fast car) felt more responsive on the way home, which was a surprise.

It feels better in sport from idle I guess because it idles at about 1200rpm in sport as oppose to about 800rpm in D mode.
My Cupra throttle feels the same, especially setting off from standing. Whats weird though is my old Leon had the same DQ250 DSG but it didn't have the other modes you could mess with like the throttle, I don't recall that feeling delayed at all.
If you look online though its a problem with Cupra's and Golf R's, I've never seen anybody moan about it in S3's though.
