Anyone had one? Considering an x drive one for general use.

Not sure what they cost, but can’t see why you’d choose one over a 3 series estate. Or any other mid sized estate really.

My wife has the 220d xDrive version which she’s been driving for about a year now. She and the kids like it because it’s that little bit taller than a normal car and is more airy with larger window areas. It drives ok but I find the engine noise is quite noticeable and there’s a fair bit of road noise (though we use all season tyres which may not help?).

For me, it’s not as good to drive as my 3 series and is less comfortable with a stiffer ride to cope with the increased height. It’s not noticeably bigger than the 3 series touring either so I’d go for a 3 unless you need the higher driving position.

Depends what you want it for.

My father in law bought a 218 AT last summer. He loves it. They’re both getting on a bit and find it easier to get in and out of than a normal car. Boot space is loads bigger than a 3 series saloon.

I wanted to hate it, but it’s not all that bad if I’m honest. It’s like a one series on stilts inside.

Would I but one? No, but if it suited my needs I would.

Might a 3 Series GT be a better solution? Taller than the standard 3, sleeker than the 2 series (which is also FWD...).

Thanks to those who replied.
I just happened on this while looking on AT last weekend and to my shame had mot even heard of them.
Thought it looked good in the red and seemed to offer a fair bit of pace at 0-60 in 6.5 and x drive.
Decided against it in the end.
