Hi can anyone recommend a safe site for downloading office 2016 home and student one time agreement? I have found 2016 pro plus at the Microsoft store.org.uk for £26 but is this more than a home user will need over home and student package?

They sell Office 2019 for £26, too. Is this a legitimate supplier? If not, what's the catch?

Are you sure?

They may very well be 'legal' and 'genuine' licenses, but might not be legal to re-sell them to the general public (i.e. they may be developer, volume or OEM licenses, and not meant for resale).

But if Microsoft don't care (i.e. don't bother suing them), then why should a user wink

I had this at a previous job but the licence is only valid while you work there, if you leave the company the licence for all the software goes as well.

Plus you can only get O365 with it now, can’t just buy a copy of Office anymore.

I think that’s just a technicality ! the software works ‘forever’
I’ll find out when I retire smile

I've bought the licences off ebay before now which are said to be extracted from machines whichhad the software installed but failed in some way - licence codes have all worked fine on the online microsoft account validation thing so its not like I've tried to hide the fact with an off system validation and updates have been working fine too. Office costs a handful of beans

I've recently upgraded a couple of my machines to Office Pro Plus 2019 from 2010 and one thing to be aware of is that 2019 by default will only install the whole suite of programs, you cannot select what you want at installation time as you could with older versions.. (This may also be true of 2016, I don't know.) I really only want Word & Excel.

There is a utility called Office Deployment Tool available from MS where you can edit small file to configure the installation and then follow a command line process to install what you want but it's a bit fiddly.

I'd not let that bother you.

And of course, how would MS know anyway ?

It doesn't bother me at all as I already had Office but these were the T&C's we were told about in relation to this offer. You can bothered if you wish but I won't be bothered whether you are bothered or not.
