Morning all,

My S9 was running really slow despite a photo and App clearout so I took the nuclear option and did a factory reset and restore.

The phone works like a new phone now, the battery seems to last longer, the speaker crackling problem that i had down as dirt is gone, and it just works way better.

The only reason I took this option is because our IT dept told me to do a wipe and restore with my Laptop every few months and I thought maybe this would work with the phone. Things is, not many people advocate it or at least on the web it seems to be the option of last resort. Do people here take this option often? Its quite easy once all the data is backed up prior.

Cheers

I tend to do once or twice a year, but I have a Google Pixel 2xl and have opted in to the last two Android beta versions, usually nuke it after the official version releases - I think it's not really recommended for Android as it used to be a laborious task to back everything up, much easier now with everything backed up to your Google account/Drive, but it's amazing how many foibles it can sort out and the performance improvement.
