Which vintage Omega?
Discussion
My Dad has given me his Omega that was given to him by his dad in 1965. Hasn't been worn for at least 20years. Unfortunately that's all I know about it, on the face it says Omega and below the 6 o'clock mark says Swiss made. He had the rear inscribed with his initials/surname so i don't know if its the original. There are no serial numbers in view. I think it has had a replacement Omega strap in its life.

Anyone know the model without removing the rear? Also a rough estimate on value?
It is in working condition but I'd like to get it serviced/cleaned as I doubt its had one in its lifetime. Any Omega specialists that come recommended?

You’d need to open the back for a model number, but it’s of an age where Seamaster/Deville were very similar watches. In terms of value, low to mid hundreds to sell, but your ‘new for old’ insurance policy would deem a replacement value to be £2700.
Repair wise, an Omega accredited workshop is going to change you in excess of the value of the watch. I’d be looking at Joe @ Anglesey watches for repair if you can get hold of him!

Thank you! Upon my search prior to my opening post I did find the Deville to look near enough identical, plus a couple of others, the EL972 and 161.002, but as you say I'll need to open the back or more the case I'll need to get a watch repairer/specialist to open the back. Ok good to know, I can wear it without fear of damaging it so to speak, though it will still only be worn for the Sunday best.Repair wise, an Omega accredited workshop is going to change you in excess of the value of the watch. I forgot about Joe, previously used him for a replacement battery on a Citizen ecodrive. Will try to get in touch with him.

Joe is easy to get in touch with - use the message feature on AW&C's FB page.
My guess would be that it is a 135.001 with a Cal.601. The only serial number will be on the movement and it only allows approximate dating. Probably early mid sixties.
That he is! Will be sending it up to him this week.My guess would be that it is a 135.001 with a Cal.601. The only serial number will be on the movement and it only allows approximate dating. Probably early mid sixties.
