Jacking points on 2002 Honda HR-V
Discussion
Hello,
I have a 2002 Honda HR-V, which I want to jack up to take one of the rear wheels off, and do some work on the wheel arch.
I'd like to lift it with a jack, then put it on a jack stand, the problem is the "official" jacking point located near the wheel is not large enough to have both the floor jack and the jack stand put under it. So, if I want to put the jack stand there, I need an alternative jacking point to use for the jack.
I've managed to find a workshop manual for the car (in Russian) which shows there should be a central, rear jacking bracket, but I can't seem to find it on the actual car. I've attached some photos of the underside and a screenshot from the manual.
Any help in identifying suitable jacking points would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Tom

The picture seems to be saying there should be a reinforcement in the middle of the beam shown in the first picture.
If that was me, I'd be happy taking the weight at either end of that beam (where the attachment points are), or on a plank under the beam spreading the weight onto the two end points, or under the diff (with a plank to spread the load) or any of the suspension inboard or outboard attachment points (with a plank). The main thing to avoid is putting load onto a panel or in the middle of a suspension link.

This is how I'd do it too, looking underneath in the pictures there doesnt appear to be a central rear point, just lift on the beam then straight onto stands and you will be fineIf that was me, I'd be happy taking the weight at either end of that beam (where the attachment points are), or on a plank under the beam spreading the weight onto the two end points, or under the diff (with a plank to spread the load) or any of the suspension inboard or outboard attachment points (with a plank). Thank you all for the replies.

what does the rear shock absorber mount area look like?
Is this what you are asking about?Krikkit said:
Isn't that a jacking point shown with an arrow in top left of picture 3?
It is, yes, but as I said I if I'm going to put a jack stand here, then I need another point for the jack itself.Gassing Station | Home Mechanics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
