is this official?

I have already asked my AD if I can be put down on the 'the list' for the SS smurf.
They provided a Bat Girl less than a month after it was released so fingers Xed....

I like the yellow OP and the blue dial sub.

Always wanted a yellow watch. Was going to get a doxa but lugs seem short. Something to think about.

There's also a new DJ31 and Sky Dweller on Oysterflex.
Like the new line up, colours welcome. Sad to see the OP39 go though.

Have updated the 1 to a 2 on my request for an NDS!

It does now look like the steel/white gold Sky Dwellers have been dropped too.

No, still on the configurator. Hulk, Smurf and 39mm OP seem to be the only casualties.

Only surprise to me is the continuation of the Bi-Metal Daytona still not getting a ceramic bezel.

Quite some commotion on the Rolex FB chat groups last night and this morning.

Several UK grey/used dealers immediately increasing the price of their Hulk models to £20k, which in itself has caused tempers to flare and arguments galore.

But the reaction to the new 41mm Sub has been very mixed. Most people are claiming it’s a total yawn-fest. With others claiming it’s pointless anyway as you can’t buy them and it’ll just be flippers and grey dealers having your eyes out over the price.

I’m a bit fed up with it all to be honest. It doesn’t feel like there is any fun to it anymore. If these new releases, and the lack of new supply, drive used prices even more I might just sell up, cash in, and spend my money elsewhere. The more they increase in value, the less I wear them, and the less I like them.

I can’t stand the whole drama around attempting to buy what is essentially a mass produced stainless steel watch.

I hear you. I think that is reflected in the general lack of interest in this very subject on here-the Sea Dweller release thread from a couple of years ago went to something like 20 pages.

Now? People aren’t that bothered any more I guess when you know you can’t get one, or if you can you know you can flip it to some schmuck.

I mainly started collecting as it was a fun hobby after the classic car bubble meant they went beyond what I was willing to pay.

I’ve even thought about selling the whole lot as it would actually get me back into something interesting in the car world again!

Just tweaked my wait list to allow for the new releases. I like the look of the 'Kermit 2' and will not lose sleep over the fact that I never got hold of a Hulk. I finally got hold of a new Sub Date last month and the changes in the switch to 41mm are small enough for me not to worry about.

Sad to see the white dial OP39 go as I really fancied one of them. The silver dial/gold indices 41mm OP is quite smart though. I think I need to see the brighter coloured OPs in the metal .. the green one appeals..

Not a Skydweller fan so not that bothered there.. Would also have liked to see additional GMT or Daytona models and the blue bezel sub in steel.

Saw the ‘tease’ of the release a couple of days back, and got slightly excited as a big fan of the brand.

Saw the releases, and they’ve discontinued 2 models I was after, hulk and OP39. My AD, with whom I have a good purchase history, hasn’t materialised either of those pieces in the time I’ve been on the lists, so I’ve missed out

The grey market prices will obviously explode, and whilst I’m rather annoyed to not have the pieces I want, I really can’t be bothered to continue the search any longer. I’ll stick with what I have and see what happens in the future.

It appears many faithfuls (me included) have simply fallen out with the brand, and the idea of waiting lists and huge markups etc are further souring the experience

I was told to make an appointment to visit the AD to speak to someone about the new release then the dealer would decide who would go on the list of expression of interest , with no guarantee that you’d get a watch anyway.

Notwithstanding I’ve been a regular customer at the same branch for over twenty years.

Company rules apparently.

No doubt their local grey dealer will still manage to maintain his supply from the same AD .

It’s beyond a joke now man.

The old Smurf was white gold only too so not much of a change. I did have an aftermarket blue bezel on a SS 16610 years ago, looked great.

Nothing will change unless enough people vote with their wallets.

Personally, whilst I understand the appeal of Rolex to a lot of the fans, they rarely spark much joy in my trousers.

If I had the money and motivation to buy a Rolex-priced watch, I wouldn’t respect any AD/brand that goes to such trouble of treating potential customers like dirt. You have the money to buy something, you shouldn’t be expected to get on your knees and beg to part with your thousands of pounds IMO.

Far nicer brands and watches on the market that would happily not make you behave like a submissive wife under her oppressive husbands clenched fist.

Agree with both of you. It seems from reading other forums and chat groups, that many others feel the same.

There are a lot of people out there who seem to have been strung along by AD's for months and even years on the promise of getting something like a Hulk or even just a plain black bezel Sub, or a GMT of any description, who have now just been told "Sorry, you'll have to re-apply for the waiting list"

People are no longer buying stainless Rolex models to wear and enjoy, they are just being squirrelled away into 'Collections' or as investments, while the grey market dealers have everyones eyes out over the price.

I’ve got no problem with anyone buying a watch to form part of the collection or as an investment , their money their choice , I do object to the way that AD are now treating all potential purchasers as flippers.

I’ve said it before , put the rrp up to the grey market price , more margin for both Rolex and the AD , more availability for the customer who wants to keep his timepiece, everyone wins , excluding the flipper and the grey dealer obviously.
