Grand Seiko Quartz

Yes that is true, I didn’t know about the SARB when I purchased this, oh well.
Never fear. The Sarb, whilst an excellent watch, is a completely different & inferior animal to a Grand Seiko.
A Grand Seiko is incredible value and the dial, hands, indices & case finishing bear comparison with watches that retail for £10k+. Certainly better than anything Omega, Rolex, IWC, Panerai, Breitling etc. put out at more than 3x the price of a 9F GS.
Watch this superb video for an idea of the huge amount of hand finishing & hand assembly (yes, even the 9F Quartz movement): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sULI3raP6Jw&t
And that’s not even really touching upon the 9F Quartz movement, which is rather special - precisely because it is Quartz, not in spite of being Quartz.

I have a 9F GS the limited edition GMT , tis a lovely thing and they are indeed incredible value for money but the bracelets and more importantly the clasps really let them down and its the reason I rarely wear mine, total lack of adjust-ability without adding or removing links is a black mark against them imo.

Hello Tiger. I’ve just returned from 13 years in Dubai. Where do you live in Dubai? Are you on the BDD Facebook group?
Ranches and yes (if the second D is Dads!).liner33 said:

Yes I fully agree with you. I’m trying mine on a brown Perlon strap, I quite like it so far. Might tempt me to wear it more often.

Cool, we used to love the restaurant at the golf club on a Friday morning. Prefer it to Maison Mathis. We used to live in the Springs. I’m still a member of BDD albeit from afar. Take care.
You too, 'interesting' times here for sure.To the poster with the SBGN001, love it!

With all respect to the sarb, they're a fair distance from GS.
Indeed. As a past owner of a 033 and the current owner of two GS, including a 9f, I understand why some refer to that range as being "baby" Grand Seikos however that's only when they're glanced at. As lovely in their own right as they are they simply don't compare in terms of quality.Part of the reason why I appreciate both my quartz regulated (one battery, the other a Spring Drive) GSs is because of their movements. It's a bit of a shame that I find myself wearing them less and less, though
