My new (to me) X3 F25 2013 sat nav is woefully out of date, listed as 2012 In version. So presumably never updated from new, which being a Cardiff demo then back to them all it’s life for servicing and resale, seems a bit tight. However I bought it privately from a nice old chap, so perhaps the previous owners didn’t care.
I know it is clunky and my phone does it better and free, I use Waze, but it makes my teeth itch a bit when I see myself driving over non existent roads and unable to enter the exact post code.
Westerly Yeovil, who are pretty good, quote the 2020 update at about £75, which is pretty reasonable for 8 years of new roads!
But being a bit tight myself, with 2 kids at uni and college, has anyone used a better value method of achieving the same?or can recommend a non OEM supplier?
Thanks in advance

It’s not the maps for me, it’s the traffic updates that matter. Waze etc give it to you for free but I’ll be dammed if I can find a decent place to put the phone. I’ve tried the pillar, the air vents etc and even my home made position by the wing mirror but nothing satisfies.

Would also love to know if there are deals available for Bmw traffic updates. Then again maybe should just spend the money and get an Android replacement unit and get waze built in to the car...

2 steps here...
First is to buy a FSC code that allows you to update the maps yourself. Buy the lifetime one. Google is your friend. Usually £20 or so, but as it's a lifetime code you'll only need to spend the money once.
Secondly, download the map you need from any of the nav forums, usually for free. I use GPS Power. You'll need to know what nav system you have, e.g. NBT, PREMIUM, NEXT, MOVE or MOTION. On the map screen, open the settings menu and scroll down to Navigation system version. You will see the region, map version and year (2012!) of your current map. It'll say something like Europe Move 2012 or similar.

Late edit - I see you mentioned PREMIUM in your original post. As such the latest version is Road Map Europe West PREMIUM USB 2020-2.

The RTTI ( live traffic ) info is in a subscription service which when mine lapsed was ( I think ) £90 per year

It was fairly good, but I always found Waze/Google maps better so I didn’t renew it

Is it the business or Pro-Media ( wide screen ) that you have ?
