How long does a council have to send a yellow box fine?

My dear old mum thinks she screwed up on a box junction in Kingston-on-Thames and they're apparently really militant about fining for the slightest infringement. I know that for things like speeding offences a NIP must be received in 14 days but is it the same for a yellow box offence or do they have longer? Seems to be more difficult to find out than I anticipated so hoping someone here can help.

The date of the alleged infringement was Monday a fortnight ago - if it's also 14 days like a speeding NIP then I reckon she's in the clear?

I think these are transport for London, which might have longer time frames?

I know this because years ago I got done in Croydon on the A23 near Coulsdon where it filters down....trouble is I was bullied into the box appealed and won

It is indeed TfL. I was caught out in a box junction only a couple of hundred yards from my front door. Appealed (as I was sure I had not not infringed against the Highway Code) and lost. Worst part was the lecture by the adjudicator that I should have paid up straight away and not appealed even though I thought that I had entered correctly.

Subject to a couple of statutory conditions, they can't serve a PCN later than 28 days from the date of the alleged contravention.

Cheers, that's very helpful - looks like another fortnight of keeping fingers crossed then. I drove through that section myself the other day and it's actually a pretty tricky junction with terrible light sequencing.

I got caught at Raynes Park last year? I'm not a local to area its like a 20mph limit everyone speed off ahead. Next minute a car pulls out of a side road and stops blocking my way and I'm in a yellow box. Contested it and they wouldn't accept it, apparently I should of kerbed my wheels going round like the van behind...

Something doesn't sound right with that.

Was the exit clear before you entered the YBJ ? If yes, the appeal should have been allowed - or at least it appears you may have had grounds to have taken it further.

A different story if your exit (and any others) was blocked before you entered the YBJ.

To be honest it all happened a bit quick? from my perspective the car was joining my main road which was a one way? with a loop around but because cars up ahead were coming to a stop at traffic lights where the road splits straight on (my intension) and a right (traffic controlled) it brought the car to push its way out in the small gap in front of me. I was following the sat nav as my job requires me to drive all over the south but by time I stopped was in yellow box, the toyota rav4 was in the middle of both lanes and a car parked on the right just outside the box and then the van behind pushing round mounting pavement. Just found the video all happens in the space of 4 seconds. Its the first and hopefully last time I get done I contested it but failed, would of been the meeting thing but time off work and travelling back not worth it, as they say .... happens.
