Indicator stalk rattle

I hate to break a stereotype but it appears I’ve worn out the indicator stalk on my e61 5 series. Or maybe all that flashing the main beam at the proles in my way caused it!

Anyways it’s really quite annoying. A persistent rattle at motorway speeds although not always present for some reason. I can stop it by resting a finger lightly on the stalk. Is this going to be a steering wheel (and airbag ) off job to fix or is there a bodge I can try?

I've not done it myself but just to confirm in case you are worried, it's not a big or difficult job to take the airbag out and steering wheel off. I think you could probably avoid it though in any event.
