Richard Mille?
Discussion
Does anyone have a Richard Mille / know anyone with one / seen one on a wrist?
I only ask because they never seem to crop up in discussions on this forum yet they advertise in lots of glossie mags and seem to sponsor teams in expensive sports and I don't know how they can afford to do so if they don't sell many.
Personally I think they aren't attractive or easy to read so fail as both jewellery and as timepieces but that's just my opinion.
I see they have "boutiques" in Dubai, Doha, Moscow and Riyadh amongst other places so perhaps they are popular with the more money than taste set?

Boom!...never ceases to amaze me how people generalize in this way, Richard Mille doesnt make just one watch, he makes a whole range, the point being I own some I love, others in the range I wouldnt go anywhere near...so always says more about the persons lack of knowledge and total ignorance by lumping the brand into a generic love or hate
I like some BMW's not others , infact come to that I like some people & not others..doesnt make me go ' i hate the human race'.
So yep RM..some awesome pieces , love the ones i have, and some high class jewellery type items I wouldnt care to own, a remarkable story really to have garnered so much presence for a new brand less than 20 years old, rappers to F1 stars etc, so you cannot knock the business model
you pays your money you takes your choice...
my parting shot...simple still the best watch ever made to me, movement weighs 3 grams, case 7 grams, strap is the heaviest part at 9 grams...I lose myself everytime I look into it...movement suspended by cables ..u can do the research, 2013 and I believe still the lightest mechanical watch made...
There is something very wrong with you if you are a 'watch' person and are not impressed /find this in a stunning bit of work..

You dont appreciate the design and engineering involved at all ?
I think they are uber cool and appreciate the watch making that goes into them, but dont lust after owning one
Engineering yes, design no. Same as I appreciate the movement in most mechanical watches, but I prefer seeing them through an exhibition back.I think they are uber cool and appreciate the watch making that goes into them, but dont lust after owning one
I'm not being a dick, but RM hit every branch on the way down

understandable, being honest I love my RM watches but have not bought one for years..the brand has indeed gone far more 'flashy/gaudy' over the last 10 years..there is nothing produced nowadays to tempt me at all...
Rm started with the Rm001...and the early pieces, such as the Rm002/004/008 ..and check out the Rm009 & the Rm012...that is what I love about the brand...brutally honestly lost the plot to me & gone way to celeb and flash
I have a couple of original RM11's...and when i look at how they have moved now to the Rm11-03, its like a flashed up verison, as if someone has stuck a halfords spoiler on the capri & go faster stripes...the original 11 is by far the best version.
Even the later generations of the Rm27 i posted above have lost it...the 27-02/-03 just look fugly to me I am afraid
So yes am I an RM fan, but an early RM fan...totally get the resistence to the later models...these are the ones that got me into it all..
And like i say I vote with my feet and there is nothing at all to get me into the RM boutique nowadays.
