My car is parked around 3-4 feet away from where I want to trim grass using a grass trimmer (strimmer), I’m just wondering if a stone could be flicked from this far away on to my car? Thanks

Yes.

I've got a stonechip in our patio doors from a stone thrown up while mowing the lawn...the doors are 3.5m away from the edge of the lawn.

To answer your question, yes quite easily.

Waits for next futile question thread.

Small stones, no problem, they will easily travel 3-4feet with enough velocity to mark paint. It obviously depends on how stony the area is though, in normal grass/weeds it would be a very rare occurrence.

Buy a stihl. Anything they flick doesn't move. Hence the name.

There's a bit of a difference between a lawn mower and a strimmer though!

Still I'd say there's a small but not negligable risk that a strimmer could flick a small stone a few feet.

More than a few feet! When I was doing gardening work I took out a huge window on the customers house from a few metres away, and I know someone who did the windscreen on a nearly new Aston with a strimmer

First few stones will probably not come close enough to damage paint but, watch out, after a while they could grow a little boulder.

Read all of his previous posts, this one is one of the more sensible ones, believe it or not.

If the conditions are right, anything could happen. I once saw an apple turnover, a horse fly and a sausage roll.

For the sake of the concern, I'd expect it's easier to just move the car down the road for a few minutes whilst you deal with it.

You’re in luck. Your car is what we in the trade call “mobile”. Have a word with someone who can, as we call it, ‘drive’ and they will probably be able to move it temporarily for you to a place of relative safety. Then when you have finished trimming they will be able to ‘drive’ it back again to almost exactly the same place.
