Years ago (probably 7 or 8 years ago) I made a post trying to be helpful to someone, a mod then made a really blunt, sarcastic and unhelpful comment towards me.
I messaged him directly to ask what his problem was ask he pretty much said "Get stuffed. I can say what I like because I'm a mod, and if you give me any back, I'll ban you", I then told him I thought his attitude was unprofessional and unsuitable for someone who moderates a forum such as PH, and he banned me.
I emailed someone else at PH, explained what happened, and they got me reinstated.

Not from a forum, but like many here I've been banned from a thread.
If I remember correctly, it was a lad wanting to see his girlfriend in California, and getting concerned about US immigration being awkward.
Lots of reassurance from multiple people, amid the usual ph cries for pictures.
He said no several times, eventually saying 'and you'll never see any'.
Challenge accepted.
I looked at his profile, got his name and business from that, went on Facebook, found him (distinctive, unique name), found a picture of him deep into a girl's personal space. Found her in his friends list, got a name and location in California.
Elapsed time, about 12 seconds.
Back on ph, reply to the 'and you'll never see any' comment with 'that rather depends on whether she lives in Sonoma, now, doesn't it?'.
Went to bed, got up, checked ph to find much amusement from the masses and chummy obviously worried 'how did you ?!???!?'.
Lots of comments from the masses about punching above his weight. Explained how, in general terms. Got to work to find several ph emails from him, and that my posts had been deleted. I was blocked from the thread too.
Quite amusing as he didn't want me blocked because we were talking about the issues. I continued talking to him about it for some time after.

I put a username and password into the sign-up page, and got an immediate automated response telling me that I was banned for life, and if I ever dared darken their virtual doorstop again they would cook my children and serve them up with potatoes and veg.
I never actually posted anything, and the rejection was pretty aggressive. With hindsight it probably reflects that little clique quite well.
