I am looking at getting an electric SUV to replace our LR Discovery Sport.. it needs at least a 60 mile range so hybrids are out and my wife won’t drive anything ,much bigger than the Discovery Sport ... we would look at a smaller saloon or hatchback with good storage ... 2 boys, a dog and some camping trips ... finally we would want capability to have a bike rack on the back ...
Are we too early to the EV market ? Should we wait for the Tesla Y or Q4 E-Troon ?
Your thoughts appreciated

Kia e-niro or Kia Soul, perhaps? Both have over 250 miles of (real world) range and the e-niro in particular
is pretty capacious for its size:

The only issue might be a long waiting list, unless you could find a demonstrator?

I think a current x, etron or eqc would work, but wait a year will see many more options. Are we too early to the EV market ? Should we wait for the Tesla Y or Q4 E-Troon ?

Model Y, the skoda, ID4, the new Nissan etc
Kona and even eniro are only fwd and limited storage, not even sure you can add a bike rack easily in UK?

Surprisingly practical due to being a ground up EV design as uses it's footprint well. I'd definitely say it's worth a look?
Best to drive of all the EV SUV's as well.
Very good advice ... I have read about the front trunk and deeper boot space etc ... can you have a tow hitch for bikes ?Best to drive of all the EV SUV's as well.
Will get a day and have a tour around !!

iPace is a fugly dog's breakfast, but if it's all about the badge...
MX-30 with a rotary range extender will be a cracking car, imo.
XC40 Recharge is a good suggestion.
VW ID.4 would be on my short-list too.
I'd literally die of boredom owning a Kona.
Skoda Enyaq I guess has the wrong badge.
Audi Q4 e-tron is probably the same thing, with a better badge?
Citroen e-C4 if you want something funky.
...loads to choose from!

iPace is best EV SUV from a drivers perspective by a considerable margin. It's also the quickest this side of a Model X P100D
Mazda hasn't produce an interesting car in 15+ years and even that was deeply flawed. Doesn't need a range extender.
XC40 recharge both small and over priced.
Anything by VAG makes me fall asleep.
Citroen EV, you're kidding right?

BMW X5 hybrid - 45e is it?
Harry Metcalf loves his and did a video on it the other day. Plugin range isnt the best, but overall he really rates it as the MPGe is good and its still a good car. Might be worth checking his videos on YouTube.

It’s where I’d be looking if I was after a SUV
I thought you needed a vehicle that could do 60 miles+ regularly on a charge (which the the X5 won't) and occasional camping trips?
Harry's use seems to be regular 200 mile+ round trips in a day which is undoubtedly not a great scenario for a non Tesla EV.
Not sure why anyone would want to take on the additional fuel and maintenance costs to end up in a slower, noisier and smellier PHEV in your scenario but each to their own of course and good luck with whatever you eventually choose.
