Exhaust repacking
Discussion
I've posted on a helpful Facebook thread on this already (as a reluctant user!). But in case there are some who are not on FB.....I have just removed my factory exhausts as I am convinced the car is louder than it used to be, and thought I would take a look at repacking them.
One appears to be completely empty, the other has some matting still in it.
I have 2 questions/issues, and I wonder if anyone on here has done the same.
1. Are the internal pipes meant to be welded - mine appear to move around and are a very odd angle now I have removed them. Maybe the packing holds them in place and they slot onto some kind of lip?
2. How on earth do you remove the 6 hex bolts holding the thing together. They are soft alloy and even with not a lot of force the hex spanner is spinning. I guess I have to grind them all off?
I've ordered some repacking material just now, and hoping to get it all back together next weekend. Track day at Silverstone coming up and I think I would have been told to leave without sorting this out!
