I've been looking for one of these steering wheels for literally years, and I've eventually found one (if you wait long enough anything you want will turn up on Ebay - eventually!).

It's the 80's Unipart Accessory GSW 129 leather Sports Steering Wheel, and it's perhaps a little known fact that more or less the same steering wheel was fitted as original equipment to the exotic De Tomaso Deauville, no less. The wheel is stamped "made in Italy" right enough, so I reckon there's a good chance it was actually made by Momo for Unipart.

I was originally looking for this wheel to fit in my 1983 Triumph Acclaim, but I've since converted the Acclaim into an Avon Turbo replica, and fitted the correct Avon spec Nardi leather wheel in the process, so I'll need to find a new BL or Austin / Rover classic to fit my new steering wheel in smile

By 'more or less the same' do you mean 'they're both circular and have 4 spokes'? laugh

The centre pad is different, but the actual steering wheel does look to be the same. It's surprising.

I agree. The thumb spats look identical, the giveaway.
Hope you got it for a song, op. Few would know this fact surely?

The wheel itself could be exactly the same I think

Here's the wheel shown in the Triumph Acclaim Unipart Accessories brochure:

I'm clearly in a minority of one. hehe

Maybe it's the angle of the DeTomaso photo but the Unipart lower spokes look wider and the top edge looks like it would pass under the centre of the boss rather than through it.

Regardless of all that - it's a very cool wheel and looks even better in the last photo without the clunky centre bit.

No, I'm not saying for definate it actually is the same wheel, but if it's not it certainly is very similar.

That would look good on a TR8.

The wheel actually came with a TR7/8 (or Mini) boss on it

I'd lay good odds on it being the same base wheel.

Love the Unipart steering wheel, l know it’s a bit of a long shot, would you be interested in selling it?

Unfortunately my dad passed away in late November 2020 & l was trying to finish his BL retro project, there was a number of bits like that steering wheel on his wish list.

Let me know what you think.

Many thanks Dave C.

No, sorry, it took me years to find it, so I'll be fitting it to one of my cars sooner or later.
