Train drivers. With the trains being so fast a normal London / Manchester / London / Birmingham / London 12hr shift should be able to be done it 6 hrs, job and knock.
Electrical Engineers and Installers. The system is designed now, but there will by the time it is complete it will be obsolete and it'll be upgraded constantly. likewise signalling and water treatment for line effluent run off as environmental standards get higher and higher.
And of course, become an Envirofundamentalist. These people come in two types i) Those that protest and stop progress being made (Swampy, XR types) ii) Those that make the Best Available Technology / Best Practicable Means cases and prove the project should go ahead. Guess which get paid very much more for their efforts (Ok, perhaps you have to give up a little of your soul as well, but everyone has a price and sometime the Devil pays better than the Angels).

Build it, It is about time we were ahead of the curve with infrastructure ready for future capacity even with more home working.
So it can whisk us to cities to offices we no longer work at and shops we no longer shop at ?Edited by TCX on Sunday 6th September 20:40

Its going to be the biggest white elephant ever. Built for time that is, as we speak, becoming the past. By 2026, capacity on the west coast will be more than enough for demand.
I do like the current government and their incompetence
Boris is no stranger to failed projects, the Emirates Cable car across the Thames that no one uses, the fleet of buses with no opening windows that polluted more than the buses they were replacing.Train capacity will not be needed so much if we are still running away from Coronavirus in years to come. They have started work at Euston station already, most of the trains are quick enough already (Siemens 350's already do 110 mph, the one I caught to Watford Junction on Monday was virtually empty). The fact it only takes 20 minutes off the current journey time shows it's a waste of time and money. Not wanting to lose face with another U Turn, we'll build it anyway. Cue inevitable project overrun like Crossrail, which was pushed back to 2022 opening date from 2019

Any chance can you save the HS2 rants for another thread, i was asking in regards to job role that may be required.
Just an observation, but now the project is signed off, I'm sure there's plenty of opportunities. LinkedIn is good for bypassing some of the recruitment firms who just harvest CVs and do "window dressing" of roles
