Just bought a E46 323ci convertible but has a problem with the accelerator pedal. It’s insanely stiff to use to the point where I’m having to use so much pressure my foot kills after a hour drive.
The pedal is stiff with the car on and off

Anyone had this issue or have any ideas what this might be?

It will be the throttle cable has become stiff- they are not too bad to change

I was going to say throttle cable but wasn't sure if they were electronic on those, the cables fray as they get old inside the housing. squirting loads of WD40 down there helps as a quick fix for a bit. I remember doing that on my cavalier years ago

The 323i/Ci (and 328) has both a throttle cable and electronic throttle. BMW weren’t confident enough in an electronic throttle alone till the M54.

Yup. M52TUB25 and M52TUB28 had throttle cables.
