Omega AD’s realistic discount?
Discussion
Hi, just looking at my first (and probably only) ‘proper’ watch purchase, and have narrowed my shortlist down to Omegas Speedmaster professional (Moonwatch) or Seamaster aquaterra.
RRPs of both are £4910 on Omegas website. What would be considered a realistic discount? I’m in Saudi Arabia and my local AD reckons he can get me the Speedmaster for SR20k (about 4K GBP) and the Aquaterra for similar.
Does this sound realistic, or is it too good to be true?

From an Omega AD/boutique, you are extremely unlikely to get any more than 15% (even that’s a sizeable stretch).
Dom at Hackett can usually do much better. But, despite him being a brilliant guy, he’s not an AD but a ‘grey’ dealer. That doesn’t matter a jot to me, but you can’t compare the two in reality - apart from the price.

Am I correct to assume a ‘grey’ dealer can still get hold of unworn, new model watches complete with documentation etc?
If so then it’s a no-brainer, surely?
I bought a Planet Ocean from Dom at Hackett watches, it came with all the correct paperwork including official warranty card, correctly filled out so no issue with warranty etc. If so then it’s a no-brainer, surely?
Was a far better deal than I could have sourced elsewhere, nice chap to boot.
Prices went up 1st September but I have no idea of the market in Saudi
Here in the UK I have bought a Seamaster, Speedmaster and recently a Planet Ocean , its very hard to get much more than 10% nowadays ime on the popular models
I got 10% off my Planet Ocean at Beaverbrooks but negotiated a £400 Omega strap as well so it worked out about 18%, I tried WOS and Fraser Hart but both were firm at 10% off only
I did contact Dom Hackett but he was not able/willing to help me
I'm seriously thinking of adding a white dial Seamaster to my collection now but will wait a while

How about Dubai? Rivoli do a ‘half back’ deal 2-3 times a year. Particularly good if you’re buying two watches. Treat yourself. :-) presumably DSF is the next time the half back deal will be on, although it might be on for ‘big Eid’ as well. RRPs of both are £4910 on Omegas website. I bought the hesalite from Rivoli here in Dubai in February at AED 16,300 ($4,430) - around 16% off. That was pre-Covid. Would be happy to put you in touch with the same guy if it helps. The prices haven't increased from what I can see (hesalite retail is AED 18,850 at the moment). RRPs of both are £4910 on Omegas website. What would be considered a realistic discount? OP if you can wait for the after Christmas rush, I managed to fairly easily get 17% off my Speedmaster Racing this year, was late on January 2nd and was told it was the last date for counting in their December/Christmas sales.
I'm pretty crap at haggling, I didn't have to push that hard.
