Loose Gearstick
Discussion
Has anyone had the problem of a loose gear stick (apparently caused by a grub screw at the bottom of the stick coming slightly undone).
I'm sure a dealer would love to charge me to fix it, but its the sort of thing that I should be able to handle - if I could get at the screw!!
Anyone attempted this or got any tips...

Did this job on mine yesterday for the very same reason.
Loosen the screws at the front on either side of the centre console. Pull out the rear screen vent and underneath you will find another screw to remove.
Lift the console and support it whilst you disconnect the cable connector at the front of the console. Lift the console clear.
Remove the gear knob, (easy on mine but I've read that many are lock tightened in place). If this is the case with yours my best advice is to use a set of stilsons and an old piece of rubber car mat placed in the jaws.
Loosen the small allen screw in the neck of the aluminium brake lever handle and remove.
Now lift the Handbrake and gear lever gaiter assembly off.
You will find a rubber shroud over the gear shaft assembly its heald in by 4 screws, one at each corner. Remove the front and rear left side screws and peel the rubber away (its siliconed in place). You can noe access the allen screw that needs tightening. I thinks its a 5mm allen screw.
Assemble in reverse order.
