Thought I’d ask here as I can’t find anything online.
Email has an attachment as there is a paper clip in top right. I can see the attachment with Gmail app but not on native apple mail app.
Anybody know why?
Thanks

I was trying to help someone with this problem once. Knowing nothing about IOS, I was somewhat stumped, but discovered that although in an email the paperclip is there, there's only a link to the attachment in the first email of a thread. If you're looking at a reply there's no link, but you need to find the first instance of the link to access it.

This could all be bollx as I know so little about ios.

Thanks but it is the first email in the thread. It’s from .gov.uk and it is there in the gmail app but not the ios mail app.

Can you see it on the cloud website?

Sometimes such a simple thing of turning the device off and back on can help.

I don’t have an icloud mail account- it’s a gmail account. Tried rebooting.

Are you connected to wifi or mobile data? I'm sure there is a setting that can be toggled where if you are on mobile data you can choose not to download the attachment?

Also, if you forward the email does it give the option to include the attachment?

Is it your own phone, or a company phone (thinking about company managed profiles that may screw up your options)?

If it's your own phone, is it just this one email, all emails with PDFs, or all emails with attachments of any format that won't show/open?

Tried it with both.
And it does give the option to include the attachment but it isn’t there on the forwarded email either- although the paper clip is still in top corner.
This is on iphone and ipad.

Not a big issue as I’ve opened it and saved it from gmail app, just frustrating that I can’t sort it.

I had a similar issue with a PDF I sent from my NHS account to my iCloud account. Forced restarting the iPhone resolved it.

I have this issue, can open in Gmail app but not ios default mail client.

For me the issue seems to be with redirected mail, i.e. it is sent to one gmail account and is then forwarded/filtered to another g-mail address.

Also pretty sure this is a newish thing, never used to happen.

When did you setup your gmail account on there? I had this issue when they changed the auth method a couple of years back, had to clear the account off and set it back up.

I’m guessing a few years ago. I’ll delete it and set it back up.

I had this issue, a particular distribution list emails me a PDF. Used to work fine, something changed and now it doesn't work anymore. Work IT could never get to the bottom of it, I just use the outlook app instead where everything works as intended.
