Restart Issue with Dell XPS 2710
Discussion
For several months I've had an issue with my Dell 2710 all-in-one. When starting the machine I get the Dell logo but windows doesn't load. Without fail windows will load on the second time of trying. I assumed this was a hardware fault but after a bit of googling I found it to be an issue with the 'fast start-up' setting in Power Options. I disabled this and the machine boots into Windows first time but now I get this error at each start-up.

Anyone got any ideas how to resolve this?

I’ve got one of these at work and one at home and after an update I also had the issue of it sitting on the Dell logo after each clean boot.
Turning off ‘fast startup’ fixed both so your issue is a mystery...
Maybe worth a nice fresh o/s install after all this time anyway?
Great machine’s by the way, I’ve been hanging on for years to get a proper XPS replacement but Dell seem to have stopped the proper all in ones.

It still performs well for a 6 year old machine! I've already done a couple of fresh installs over the years and recently upgraded to Windows 10 but I was thinking of getting an SSD, so it could be an opportunity to have another clean install?!Turning off ‘fast startup’ fixed both so your issue is a mystery...

If you power cycle your Win 10 pc 3 times without letting it boot you’ll get a load of options including restore, refresh etc

Problem Sorted!
I had noticed that the Intel Rapid Storage Tech software wasn't running and it crashed when I tried to run it manually. I've installed the latest version and the PC now restarts normally.
I tried re-enabling the 'Fast Start-up' setting but that still causes it not to re-boot first time.

I nearly mentioned the little cache ssd, Intel have changed the software and it’s not quite so easy to tell if your system cache is working or not.
Here’s to the next 6 years
I've had a bit of a read regarding the cache ssd. Is Windows installed on this drive, I can't tell? If it is how do I go about installing the new 2TB Sata SSD? Easy option would be to clone the data from the existing to new but I'm inclined to do a fresh install of Windows on the new drive. Here’s to the next 6 years

Nope, the cache drive just keeps frequently accessed files on it, Windows is still on the main drive. If you go ssd you can just ignore that drive all together, Windows will see it but you don’t need to do anything with it, maybe hide some pron on there?
