Has anybody experienced the rear screen falling out of their volante or roadster?

It happened on my 2010 DBS Volante a few weeks back and I'm being told by a convertible roof company that the entire roof needs to be replaced. The reason, he said, was that any adhesive you use on a new screen will fail within a few weeks and therefore isn't worth doing. Cost for a new roof is $3250, which is much less than I expected but I'd still rather keep the original roof and fix the glass.

Thanks in advance.

I would give a urethane adhesive, 3M 08609 or equivalent, type that a windshield is bonded with a try. It sticks to just about everything. Clean the glass well with alcohol or other solvent that evaporates completely as well as the mounting area on the top. Apply a 3/8" (4mm) bead around the edge of the glass and press into place slightly compressing the bead. It will stick. I would have a couple of pieces of scrap wood to hold it in place. Allow at least 12 hours or overnight to cure. Take care to cover everything in the area with plastic/paper in case you have a smudge or smear.
