As a newcomer (6 months and still intact)to the hallowed halls of Noble (GTO3) ownership, I could do with a little advice regarding:

(i)when I put the car into gear after overnight parking under cover, there is sometimes a 'clunk' from somewhere up front. I thought it was slightly seized discs but I never put the hand brake on now and it still happens. Any ideas?

(ii)driving along and shifting from 2nd to 3rd, the gear stick came off in my hand, leaving me going uphill in neutral. No panic, reasoned that it must be a simple connection and yup! screwed it back in clockwise. Phew. What should I do to prevent further embarrasment? Superglue? or is there a locking nut under the gear stick trim?

On a positive note, got my first advice (wednesday)regarding driving along 'lanes'i.e. B roads, by a friendly biker from Her Majesty's Constabulary. 'You don't know who's watching do you?' who only got near once I was back into a built up area. A

Ah - the simple pleasures of life as SAGA insurance approaches.

A good "twist" normally locks the gear knob down. If that doesn't work - then get some thread lock (Loctite Blue) from your local Halfords and put a bit of that on it.

As for the clunk not a clue - sorry!

Cheers Joust,

Will investigate further and give it a good raunching.

Glyn - slightly more interest from the missus. The only plus side as she sees it, is that she's not insured for the Noble so it's me driving, not drinkin', and to be honest, the pleasure of driving the car far outweighs the transient pleasures of Strongbow.
