3 isofix points SUV

Anyone know what SUV’s have 3 isofix points?
Preferably premium(ish) brands.

I’m stuck with only the Audi Q7 on my shopping list at the minute.

Not premium but my Peugeot 5008 has 3 isofix in the back and 3 separate seats

In answer to the OP, not many - without getting into big, expensive cars like the Q7.

We went for a Peugeot 5008 in the end, with which I've been pleasantly surprised so far. It won't ever set the world alight but it's a family run around for three small children plus parents.

My wife wasn't keen on a more van-like or people-carrier style alternative, e.g. Ford Smax/Galaxy/VW Sharan.

Q7 has 6 iso fix points.. how many kids, and why not seat belt on seat properly if your looking at 3?

In the spirit of not answering the question, I find the seatbelts hold a car seat base as well as Isofix. Discovery 4 FTW

Thanks all. Seems there’s not much out there. Might have a look at the Mazda but not sure it’s what we are after. We’ve a 2016 model BMW X5 at the minute which is perfect for towing the touring caravan and great for our 2 kids. We are probably going to start trying for a third soon and realised today that the middle seat isn’t isofix. Really want 3 isofix seats as contrary to one of the above posts, in an accident there is a big difference between seatbelts and isofix. I’m not prepared to risk it unfortunately.

Would prefer to stay with a premium(ish) brand as I don’t want it to feel like a step down in terms of power (currently have 313bhp) or interior trim. A 2017 Q7 wouldn’t cost us that much to change I don’t think. About £10k I reckon. Just wanted to check that I’d not missed any offerings from Porsche, Volvo, Merc etc.

Edit: just seen that the GLE and LR Discovery have 3 isofix. I’d be interested to know if these are all on the second row or whether they go into third row too. Need them all on second row as the boot is full whenever we go away towing the caravan.

It does depend how old your kids are, we ended up with a Multimac for our 3.

If your looking to put 3 kids in a mid/back row the Q7 is the only option with ISO fix (width for actual safety nothing else offers this).. + you get the front seat and the rear row as well. Ideal for long journeys and smaller ones as you can move the cabin.

I have one.. & IMO seat belts (with a properly fitted chair and installed correctly) are a much better option than ISO FIX, especially when you (as I do) chop from car to car, it’s about fixing and installing correctly.. and not taking shortcuts..

Do they offer the GLE with a 3rd row? Haven't seen the very latest but I acknowledge it's longer than the W166, although not as long as the GLS.

Thanks. I’m not sure how seat belts can be better than isofix? We chop and change between mine and her cars all the time (we have 2 permanently fitted isofix seats in each car) and it’s a doddle putting the kids in when the seat is already fitted. For sake of £300-400 more we just bought 2 of each seat.

RE Tesla. No good at towing the caravan unfortunately. We fill the boot on the X5 when we go away so no chance in the Tesla. Cheers though.

Q7 it is. Just been researching the SQ7 and looks perfect to be honest. Should’ve dropped in price quite a bit too by time we will be looking to swap next year.

I also wouldn’t rule out the 5008. I understand you want a more upmarket marque, but the new one is impressive. The interior is decent and the top spec comes well equipped and made. I’m not a fan of white cars generally but to my eyes it works really well in that colour.

The 1.6 petrol has 178 bhp. It won’t set the world alight, but given your desire for 3 isofix across the back, it ticks that box where many others don’t. The rear two seats can be removed and it then has a very good sized boot. Plus should be easier on the wallet overall.

You may be pleasantly surprised. Or not. In which case, the Q7 is likely your best bet.

I suppose we move the seats around the cabin based on travel time, so we may have one in the rear, one in the mid with the wife in the mid too..

Most of the time 2 by 2 arrangement..

We have the britax Römer ( for a 5yrs and nearly 2 yrs) , easy in and out (iso or belt), I use the belt.. once it’s fixed in the children get put into the 5 point harness.. takes the children up to 11/12 yrs old.

I’ve got a few cars, sometimes others more practical than others as such, & sometimes only have the one child with me.. so pop the belt and move them around car by car and seat by seat and fix em in, 10 seconds as such. good luck with the 3rd btw..

Your last post appeared as I was typing mine.

Tesla has almost 900l of luggage space, if you include the front boot Obviously not going to work for you, but interesting all the same.

SQ7 looks like a great choice. The article I linked doesn’t show that it has isofix on the front passenger seat as well (in the diagram). Your partner may not be happy being relegated to the back, but an older child may love to have the odd journey riding up front

Actually, the Model X has 4 isofix and a quick google says:

“The only electric car on sale today that’s approved for towing is the Tesla Model X SUV. Not only can it tow, but its maximum towing limit is a substantial 2,270kg – easily high enough to haul a large caravan or trailer.”

So there we have it. A great alternative. If you can live with the looks.

ETA: looks like the 4 isofix are 2 in row 2 and 2 in row 3. Can be configured with 2 or 3 seats in row 2 but I suspect not with additional isofix when opting for 3. So back to the SQ7
