Anyone else fed up with the amount of money the government is ploughing into Covid without seeming to have much thought?

35bn in furlough scheme now of which 3-4bn estimated and who knows if more has been paid out in error/fraud

Now they are talking about a 100bn moonshot programme to test millions a day, worst part being so little information about this and why they think it will work / how they will do it

Think about this - that’s already 135bn right there, that is 2300 per person

An average family of 4 had 9000 taxes to pay to just fund the 2 Covid schemes above , if you happen to be working it will of course be more and high income a lot more

The accountability of the government does not seem to be there right now, their performance has been rubbish - population very dissatisfied dispute one of the most costly/generous furlough schemes and biggest economic hit in the g8

100bn if Covid mutates might be money wasted, it might not work , or like most other schemes the government tries (nhs testing app eg) run hopelessly late over budget and just become a giant black hole of taxpayer funds

I’m all for tacking the disease hence the frustration with the seeming lack of strategic and scientific thought being applied by our leaders

We'll be paying it back for a generation, that's for sure.

But in unforeseen circumstances like this, they're damned if they do and they're damned if they don't.

Also, not a GG topic smile

Try NP&E if you dare! It can be a bit weird in there hehe
