What is this ?

I know i'm going to feel really stupid when someone identifies this strange beast but i can't for the life of me work it out.

At 8 seconds, bottom left of frame - it looks like a worm WALKING into shot.. or a leech?

I'd say it's some sort of looper caterpillar (so called because of the distinctive way they move).

Ahh caterpillar makes sense, there was something familiar about the movement but I just couldn't place it.

An elephant hawk moth.
Found it on the drive at the weekend.
