I am currently using HMRC basic tools and I'm getting fed up with the time it takes. HMRC only runs on windows laptop which takes an eternity to load up, then if there's an update mad I then have to save the payslip, convert it to PDF and email it. All very time consuming. I already use Quickbooks for my accounts so would make sense.

I wondered if anyone was using QB payroll ? How you find it ? Any cons ? Is it easy to migrate over from HMRC basic ?

I use QB desktop, but use Moneysoft Payroll Manager.

Always found it very simple to use.

Once your company and employees data are set up (initial set up) its a breeze.

Enter the week / monthly hours for each employee, hit send to all, and the payslips are emailed to everyone.

Another button sends the RTI to HMRC.

Lately I’ve just found a BACs file creator aswell. It creates the weekly BACs payment file for your banks. Logon to your online banking, upload the file and all your payments are created for each employee on the future date selected.

All done it takes me less than 5 mins to create wages slips, email them to everyone, send RTI to HMRC and set up the payments with the bank.

I'll have a look at moneysoft thanks. I think QB does the Bacs payments too. That's the dream right now, 10 mins doing wages each week, not 1-2 hours.
It's the migrating from HMRC basic to another system that I'm slightly worried about.

I recently used Quickbooks payroll. Once the set up is done (telephone support is available) then really easy to use, all filings went through with no issues, payslips automatically emailed to the employee. All for £1/month per person.
