2006 Mini Cooper S air con help.

I know it isn't the most common thing to ask for as many (me included normally) would just take it to a specialist, unfortunately I don't have one too near me, so here goes in case anyone can help.
My air con does not work currently but it does have gas in it, I have no idea what pressure I should have or where, but do have access to a plug in air con pressure gauge if it will help.
When I pull in the A/C compressor relay by hand it works perfectly, so I am assuming it is either a sensor fault or a loss of something before the compressor.
Questions:
1. Does anyone know what pressures I should get where?
2. Does anyone know how to test which sensors, where they are and what readings I should be getting? I am well equipped for electrical testing just ignorant wrt the system requirements.
3. Are there any common failure points to try easily/quickly?
