I have been lucky enough to own quite a few cars in my driving career and as I get older, I tend to keep them for longer. Looking back, many of them would now be worth many times what I paid and sold them for: 2 x Sunbeam Tigers - around £500 each, 2 MGC's both under £700 Sierra Cosworth 3 door in Moonstone, sold for under £5k, The list goes on, there have been 80+ over the years. The last 12 years or so have been a selection of TVR's which held their value well, A F430 Spider which actually appreciated by a few K over my 4 years as keeper. My latest is the car in the title. I bought it at just under 4 years old in which time it had shed about 40/45% of it's value. - It was a shade under 200K new. I am wondering whether it should be a keeper? It's certainly a beautiful car, but if I keep it, am I destined to loose a big chunk in further depreciation or are they special enough to continue to command strong values, after all, there are only about 250 currently registered in the UK.

Sorry, not a third world problem (not a problem at all really) just a point for discussion.

I don't believe it will lose a great deal more, but I am biased.

Impossible to confirm as there are too many unknown factors heading our way, eg. the zeitgeist move to electric.

However, I tend to look at previous gen models as an indicator. How much is a DB7 now? That’s what the previous-gen Vantage and DB9 could hit. Previous-gen DBS or even Vanquish? Take a peek at the first Vanquish.

Absolutely no hard data to say this is complete trash. But I see the first Vanquish fares disproportionately better if it’s the S model rather than “vanilla” original. Will the recently departed Vanquish / S do the same? Possibly.

I’m currently considering a Vanquish S in a few months. If it’s, say, £110k for a sub-10k mile MD coupe then, I can expect it to dip to under £80k over the next 5 years before recovering to the purchase price. At which point, I’d probably have spent an easy £10k on warranty/service/insurance.
