Someone I know has been offered a new fixed term contract but the contract wording is along the lines of "no defined holiday entitlement, blah blah trust you to take sufficient leave to perform role etc etc"

I think a few trendy silicon valley types do this but where does this sit against legal obligations. I presume you would still accrue holiday at the minimum 28 days P/A (inc bank hols).

Anyone have experience of this type of contract?

Thanks

Relative does. He takes about 25 + bank hols so as not to take the piss.

You should be entitled to the minimum yes , if you go over and above with the holidays it could be used against you if you fail to deliver on something.

Wasn't it Virgin did the same thing here? The airline. I think.

Anyway, the way I read it almost made it feel like a slightly passive aggressive way of doing things. We trust you to take holidays that are appropriate and you won't take them without leaving everything in order or suitably covered. I bet holidays taken worked out lower than your average entitlement.

Is it actually a Fixed Term Contract (PAYE) as opposed to a er...contracting contract?

It’s more useful in the US where holiday entitlement is much less, 10 days is common.

Is it still that common in professional roles? I know our company gives 20 days minimum + national holidays.

Everyone seems to keep working on holiday though which I find annoying and self defeating.
