Had someone crash into the back of me at about 50 and destroy the rear end of my car in Bournemouth yesterday! Looks pretty much written off but I need to get some quotes. Who are the best people to quote for big repairs?

Seem to be doing this a lot lately but as it's going to be a non-fault claim give PHer anniesdad (Steve Greensmith) a shout, his company specialise in these types of claim and will deal with all repairs, 3rd party insurers and arrange a like for like hire car for you.
His company is a similar sort to helphire but I guarantee you will get a far better and more personal level of service from Steve. Tell him I sent you.
I guarantee your ins company will be next to useless for you.
He's looking after mine at the moment and I know of 3 other PHers he's helped or in the process of helping.

Sorry to hear about the car, hope your OK. I Met you at the Shell station on the Ringwood Road last year when you had engine problems. I would try the TVR body shop (www.tvrbodyshop.co.uk) have read some good reports on their work

Hey Pete, yeah, you convinced me to get my exhaust noise done! Not injured really - got whiplashed which is getting worse but the doc gave me a good load drugs 
- my head hit the headrest bloody hard too - and bruised my knees under the dash. Weirdest part was the horn button from the steering wheel came out! Must've been from the force of the impact.
Cheers for advice chaps, I'll follow those things up on Monday.
As I say I'll get some pics up soon. Unfortunately my decent laptop with all the connectivity was in the boot and didn't make it, so I have to wait til I can get my camera connected to a good machine to sort it out.

Basically, there had just been a massive lightning storm and it was really wet. The rain had stopped but as I drove along the Wessex Way - thats the main dual carridgeway through Bournemouth - there was a queue. I stopped and in my mirror I saw an Escort van lock up and slide toward me. BANG. My car was thrown forward about 10m or so but I left a gap in front of me so I didn't hit the car in front. The Escort had a front tyre blowout because of the heat from sliding along the road (even though it was wet).
Didn't help the traffic situation either! hahaha
Edited to say - I got a picture up in my profile of the car. Can't see it that well in the photo but the damage goes right through the boot with and imprint of the escort in the petrol tank!

A good careful shop is Burd Autos in Brentford M'sex. Has done body work to my Griff and Chimara - and a full respray on the Chimaera once. If fact I am putting it in this week to rectify damage from a parking shunt - big car with tow bar doesn't see low level svelte TVR.

I don't wan't to speculate however I doubt very much if there will be any chassis damage,the grp and fuel tank
will of taken the impact. I wouldn't be supprised if the GRP is rooted up to the sills though.

Yeah, its not obvious if the chassis has been bent or not. The fuel tank is very mashed - which makes me wonder if the thing it is joined to is also mashed? The passenger door is at a slightly odd angle though which indicates something more than just the rear end. Anyway, I'll see what happens - rebuilt car is sort of cool as I know mine was good one. But a write off would be an opportunity for something different (read: faster, louder)...

Were the rear wheels still straight? If so, there's a good change that the chassis is OK. It's still a BIG job to replace so much fibreglass and I fear that the cost of secondhand 4.0 Chims is not what it was. I would prepare yourself for it to be written off sadly.
If you REALLY like YOUR car, you could buy it back. Personally, I'd be tempted to get another one.

You've probably thought of this already, but if they decide to repair it, before the accessor comes round, get the bodyshop to factor a full respray!! Mind you, from the picture its probably border on full. They can usually hide these little factors in the labour or materials somehow....

No contest from the van. Seems like its just down to whether or not its worth repairing. Its been low loaded to the TVR Bodyshop so I'll wait and see what they say. Otherwise, I'm thinking about what to get next
