At what point does Gt4 / Spyder have "too many miles" on it
Discussion
All cars sell, just higher miles cars are priced too much, thats why they don’t sell.
I expect to see GT4's with 20k on these days that’s ave miles for the age of the car, but people want too much money for them.
I am pretty shocked at current high values and people who buy them at £70k so what do I know.
30k mile cars should be sub £55k at best maybe less.
There have been 6+ cars for sale over a year now and over 45 cars for sale atm .

I’m sure a 36k+ miler up at £69,995 on Porsche approved used just this week.
I believe average mileage on a GT car is 5k a year. As these cars are 4 year and become 5years old… you’d expect to see 20-25k on the clock.
Still fresh by normal car standards.

I have not done the maths but pretty sure the cost per mile actually goes down on the higher miles cars so the more miles you do in one the more value from owning it increases.
I have cars I do less than a 100 miles a year in and I also have cars info 15-20k miles in so see both sides.
But best way to get real value from a car is to add as many miles as possible. First 15k miles will cost more than the second 15k

And don't these cars only develop full power with 20k on the clock or is that a bit of an old wives tale?
I wouldn’t be opposed to buying a 20k + car, potentially a bit of a bargain and less depreciation to take a hit on too?
I have found almost every VW / Audi / BMW I have owned seems to get noticeably better after 20,000 milesI wouldn’t be opposed to buying a 20k + car, potentially a bit of a bargain and less depreciation to take a hit on too?
But for reasons best know to Porsche owners it seems that a high mileage Gt car is not a good idea.
Some have said a 20k plus miles cars is worth £6-7k less than an equivalent 10K or less miles car
Seems a strange world we live in

Many have rejected this and I think the market is favouring them
So I guess you are correct when you say "so what do I know"
I don't think anyone knows what the future holds
Do you have links to the 6 cars that have been for sale for over a year as that seems a long time
As I’ve said before, I can’t see myself laid on my deathbed thinking “Wow, I really wish I’d driven my cars less”. I’m lucky to get the allocation but if I was looking used I wouldn’t let the mileage bother me, rather the 20,000 mile car that’s been looked after than the 4000 mile car that’s been ragged from cold!

Given that it’s basically a slight detuned 991.1 Carrera S engine, high mileages shouldn’t be a problem. If you intend to use and enjoy it, buy a fair priced high mileage one and use within impunity in the knowledge there’s no artificial value left to protect.
I totally agree with this , so why do people not use them ? I just find it baffling there are Gt cars with less than 3000 miles on them after 5 years
What do people do with them and why buy them as values are now not really increasing hugely

I predicted cars at £59k by Xmas., not low £50's and it imo still will happen by Xmas.
Romans just dropped their car £5k.
What I don’t understand when the car markets selling cars well why 1/3 of ALL GT4 for sale have been for sale over 2 months and prices are not falling faster.
what we did not need is another price thread lol

Often they are one of several cars, it could be her in doors finds the full buckets uncomfortable. Some people think of them as assets, with value that needs to be projected rather than toys.
Some people will only use them when their McLaren develops a fault, they’re the high mileage ones.
They generally owned by people have to work fairly hard to afford the finer things in life, so don’t have as much time to enjoy them as they would like.

What would help people looking is to add links to the bargain buys that you find. I’ve been looking at prices GT4/Spyder for 3 months now and have not come across them.I predicted cars at £59k by Xmas., not low £50's and it imo still will happen by Xmas.

After todays news I am starting to think what the real value of life is

fair point but how much less would you value the 20K one if both cars were identical in spec. That was what I was really thinking julian987R said:
1 mile. Soon as you drive it off the forecourt it's lost 10%. That'll be the most expensive drive home so enjoy it.
"My local dealer said that higher mileage cars are not selling (unless priced cheap) as people want low mileage cars. So at what level does a GT4 become his mileage ?
errrr ask your dealer! blimey.
If people are worried about reversing cameras being a make or break option then maybe this is not the right car for them lol
if you are so concerned about depreciation then this is not the car for you either.
Sorry didn't mean to annoy you mate."My local dealer said that higher mileage cars are not selling (unless priced cheap) as people want low mileage cars. So at what level does a GT4 become his mileage ?

I buy cars on the basis that they all lose money. It is just how much they will lose. But unlike many on here this will be first Porsche car and I am not that fabulously well off or have so unlimited funds that I can afford to get it so wrong. Last thing I want to do is buy a car for over the market rate and then find it is very hard to sell . Hope that makes sense .
On the whole Porsche cars and especially GT cars actually are very wise buys if you look at the depreciation over all as a %.
My point was if buying a higher mileage car what price adjustment should you make compared to a lower mileage car
My dealer has suggested anything over 20k miles is worth £6-7K less than a car with say 10k miles. Is that what you guys think as dealers will say one thing when buying and another when selling

Remember you are talking to man on his 3rd S class Merc and nothing depreciates like a big old Merc lolBy comparison a Gt 4 that is still worth 75-85% of what people paid for it new is what I would call depreciation proof or as close to it as you are going to get

So at what level does a GT4 become his mileage ?
20,000 miles
25,000 miles
30,000 miles
How much does it then devalue a car
The thing is with GT cars if you do push a lot of miles on them yes they are going to be say £20k cheaper than a low mileage car but someone will always buy it because it’s the only way they can afford a GT4. As long as it’s been maintained by an OPC etc they will be cheaper miles than on say a Cayman GTS. There was a thread on here about a 996 GT3 which had done 150k miles, one owner serviced religiously...IIRC it sold for just under £50k when a mint low mileage car was £70k. I reckon a 50k or 60k mile GT4 would still be worth £45k. So at what level does a GT4 become his mileage ?
20,000 miles
25,000 miles
30,000 miles
How much does it then devalue a car
