Irrespective of nationality, regular TV watchers are "not the most intelligent demographic" generally.

Mmm, not quite is it? Still, since when has the truth got in way of a good story...?

Anyway, just do a google for Ritalin and see what comes up. Its pretty shocking that there is so much information from both sides kicking around. Obviously not all of it is true, but its not a particularily "nice" drug at the best of times and should be used with caution.... unfortunately many people see it as a "success" drug...

Personally I think TC's comments are fair if a little misguided. Perpetration of the image of these drugs helps no-one. Being drawn on their use from such a famous person is dangerous..... still, does he have a film out at the moment?

Considering that a single dose of a SSRI nearly killed me then I'd agree that anti-depressants are not all good.

Tom Cruise may well be one of the most successful actors of his generation, but the reason that interviewers are asking him about his views on psychiatry are because they want to trip him up.

Cruise recently commented on Brooke Shields' book about having post-pardum depression where she advocated getting clinical help and appropriate medical attention saying that psychiatry was worthless and the drugs weren't helping anybody.

Cruise has of late been making somewhat of a fool of himself since he hired his sister as publicist, so TV interviewers are using anything to provoke him to get a viewing audience. And he rises to the bait every time....

I'd rather Cruise stick to subjects he knows about like why he ditched the priesthood for acting, why he ditched Nicole Kidman, and why the press are calling his latest bride to be "Beard number three".
