Hi anyone fitted plugs other than the standard AC Delco ones? The reason I ask is that I am about to fit Denso IT20s. Their website specifies a gap of 1.1mm for the plug but the GM manual specifies 1.52mm for the AC plugs. This is something I have never got into before and I am not sure if the plug gap follows the spark plug or the engine ignition system so therefore feel bewilderingly stupid in not knowing the answer to this.

The gap normally comes preset for the plugs these days, put a guage on the gap and see if it corrosponds with the measurements you have, what i would do is check all the plugs and if in the main most plugs are the same but there are one or two out reset the ones that are out.

I don't gap the lsx plugs I install. I use the bosch platinum 2's and go with the gaps recommended by them.

I take it that bashing them against the garage wall until they look about right is no longer an option then? Worked fine in the old days.

Bashing them on a vice is much better then use a screw driver to open them up
