Up early today. Quick final read at the Tech Site article - OHV to OHC.

Engine crane? yes.

Plates for engine mount extension? yes

Pinto to Xflow engine mounts? yes

All systems go!

Front grill off - buggerated one headlamp mounting stud - not the end of the world both headlamp shells a bit fragile - corrosion.

Wings off (note Mal)

Disconnect engine and remove.

Remove back plate from ex Transit pinto check engine backplate matches X flow by fitting Xflow dust plate - yes!

To fit 1300 gearbox remove flywheels from both engines Xflow flywheel does not fit Pinto. Also discover bits of shiny metal - remains of a roller bearing, the Pinto spigot bearing has disintergrated.

Decision time - decided will obtain C3 box, torque converter, 2l flexi plate, and auto quadrant.

Meanwhile Boris looks rather sad. - Maybe he'll feel better when I have Smoothrited the exposed chassis.

BTW One of my uprights has a distinct inward lean and when we removed the cross bar by tapping it, there was a loud bang and the cross bar hurtled into the air.

Sounds good to me Dave , Mrs T will hopefully join your club soon , anybody dabbled with the 4 speed auto yet? or will all that electronic wizardry be too much for our fragile looms?

A few weeks ago - early May if I recall correctly someone reported they had abandoned an attempt at fitting the 4 speed box.

I totally agree every upgrade should be based upon the KISS principle.

Follow on from this statement the trany engine has electronic ignition, unfortunately I did not get the black box (s) with it. Which is the best course of action? Choices seem to be.
(i) Obtain the black box and wire it up:
(ii) Get a points dissy and return to point ignition:
(iii) Blow the Pinto out and locate another donor engine / gearbox package.

there was an abandonned attempt to stick a 4 speeder in on forum
bordeaux 3 speed in my geep [which i didnt fit] is superb [only mal wasnt impressed but he's young lol]
quite a few have driven it over the weekend
i wont say who left the hand brake on lol
but i was told by builder of it that it has a high stall converter fitted to it - steve the guy who built it knows quite a bit about autos etc and it does pull away very quickly - upsets hot hatches till about 25 mph
lol
but sometimes thats enough
RED samuri is getting what ive got hold of so maybe a bit different than geep - we shall see
still short of 3 bolts - flex plate to torque converter and a shifter
prnd21 wonder if a jag one may work?
anyone got a haynes mk2 granada manual?
did that use a c3?
after pub ramble finished trex lol

And you think you got problems jon!

Started strip down of cylinder head on SJ daily driver yesterday

Remove cam cover, note to ones self cam is scored and looking rather..er.....nackered.

Never mind plod on......

Refer to haynes manual, after removing fan blades, lift off spacer and water pump pulley......wtf! seized solid! (not the pump, the fittings)

Never mind, grab soft faced mallet, slight tap and i mean slight ......... water pump now in two pieces

Retire to kitchen for much needed mug of tea and 1/2 packet of of smokes muttering obscenities at pants water pump chocolate cams and Suzuki spares prices

Now have got to rob bits off Jago project to get me back on road, hence not very happy this morning and will be on ebay for rest of foreseeable future!

Thats the problem with typing it's dificult to get the same emphasis as speaking. Not having read Martin's stufff fully I was trying to say I had a NEW water pump, but it's for a Pinto not a Suzuki

Sorry mate hope you get sorted soon

Hi-light of my day, head only 0.2mm warped so within 0.5mm max warpage tolerence
So far only have to rob cam and followers off spare sj cos me dear old mam bless her soul has offered to buy me a new water pump.
Dont know if i'll take her up on this though cos i feel dead guilty that she been through to see family an me this weekend and i spent it underneath the bl**dy car. (An before you ask, I know thats not where the head an pump is, i had other things to do )
