I can hear internal crunching noises emanating from where the back of my skull meets my neck when I swivel my head from side to side. The noise is more pronounced when I look up and quieter when I look down.

Sounds like someone walking on gravel. No pain, no restricted movement, just rather disconcerting. Am I dying?

If you are then so am I!

I just put it down to knots and tension and joints/tendons/ligaments clicking etc, can't say I have ever worried about it.

Crepitus I was told as I have it quite a lot ever since my accident, I was also told....
'Crepitus is considered harmless, and studies have not shown any evidence that it can cause joint damage or raise risk for arthritis'

Ah, thank you. I will go with that. Nice to have a label for it (not just "getting old"!)

Mine is pretty constant and noisy.
I have had several whiplash type injuries in the past and a recent scan showed an old minor fracture. Just wear and tear and advanced years .

Me too. I’ve got a physical job with terrible posture also feels gets worse with stress.

A good physio session helps a lot.
